The foundations for the Inter Hurlers win were laid in the opening half as they battled to a 1-7 to 0-5 lead after playing up the hill and into the gale wind. Croabh started the better with former Dublin Senior Johnny McGuirke scoring their opening 2 points but Paul Keane soon had the sides level with 2 pointed frees. Paul Keane & Seamus Lynam had outstanding games. Lynam scoring a great individual goal midweek through the first half. Catching the sliotar on the 45' yard line and busting through the Chiarain's defence before kicking the sliotar to the net. This was a real boost to the lads and points from Tommy Fitzsimons & Pat Rohan(above) soon had the hosts in the box seat. Great defending from Sean Brady, Tommy Phelan, Glen Markey & Dave Brooks left the visitors frustated going into the break.

Chiarain's came out fighting after the break, scoring the opening 3 points but Brigids soon fought back with points from Keane, Lynam & Fitzsimons and a great over the shoulder point from Stephen Kelly. McGuirke grabbed a goal for Chiarain's from a 20 yard free before Paul Keane brilliantly volleyed the sliotar to the net. Further points from sub Sean Duignan, Pat Rohan & Dan Brady gave the Inters a cushion which was tested in the final few minutes as Chiarain's grabbed 2-2 in the closing minutes but a Keane free sealed the win. Thats 2 wins and a draw in the opening 3 groups of the Championship. A great achievement considering the team stepped up to Inter this year.
