Our Senior Hurlers led from start to finish against Kilmacud Crokes. Played in beautiful sunshine, there was a good pace to the game with both sides eager to impress with the club Championship starting in 3 weeks. Our team of young guns is improving at a steady rate with Daire Plunkett, Jamie Winters & Joe O'Callaghan to the fore with Plunkett scoring the decisive goal minutes before the break. The game started off with a ten minute delay as the Crokes goalkeeper was injured. A merc was driven onto the pitch to take the injured man away - you could only see that with Crokes.

Crokes opened the sharper grabbing the first two scores through Fergal Armstong but Brigids were soon in front through the expert free taking of Paddy McAvinue who had an immense game from play as well. Paddy grabbed 0-8 in total and tormented Dublin player Niall Corocran with his electric pace and runs through the centre of the Crokes defence.

It was very much nip and tuck until 10 minutes before the break when Brigids leading 0-6 to 0-4 found the back of the net when Daire Plunkett sprinted clear of the Crokes defender to finish off his left to the roof of the net. Crokes replied instantly to leave the sides 1-6 to 0-5 at the break. Leading by 4 at the break, things looked good but just minutes after the restart Aodhan McEnerney was knocked unconscious and had to go off. Mick Cussen moved to centre back and had an immense game.

Crokes soon reduced the deficit to 3 points but up stepped Joey O'Callaghan & Jamie Winters to stretch the lead back to five points. Our fighting spirit and fitness was evident through as Crokes struggled to cope with our high pressure game. Tim O'Donnell marshalled his full back line very well and Joey Jordan snuffed out several Crokes attacks in the dying minutes.

Well done to the lads. We are looking forward to facing Cuala in 3 weeks time.
