Club Coach John Ryan starts corner-forward for the Underdogs this Sunday - Thu, 15 Dec 2005
Club Coach John Ryan with last year's Victorious Underdogs Captain Martin Kennedy Best of luck to John Ryan this Sunday versus the might of Kilkenny in Nowlan Park at 1.30. The Match is Live on TG4. John starts corner-forward against the Cats. Since the trials process in June the Underdogs have faced vigorous mental and physical training, military-style discipline and a ruthless elimination process. Their strength, stamina and skill has been tested by inter-county sides such as Tipperary, Clare, Limerick and Waterford. They have faced every challenge head-on, honing their abilities, increasing their pace and cementing their bond. The end result is a strong, fit, determined panel confident of taking on Kilkenny in their own back yard. The Underdogs are in effect themselves an inter-county team and a side to be reckoned with. This is a challenge that Kilkenny will take seriously, particularly after last year's sensational defeat of All-Ireland Football Champions, Kerry. That was a thrilling battle and one which proved, once again, that on the day the Underdog will always have a chance. The stage is now set for what promises to be an exciting and memorable event. The legendary Micheal O Muircheartaigh will be oommentating on the day, Sean Ben Breathnach will host the proceedings and ex-Cork manager Donal O'Grady will be on hand to offer his expert analysis. Tom O Branagin will be busy on the sidelines interviewing special guests. The Kilkenny Gospel Choir will lead the crowd in the singing of the National Anthem. Ticets are priced at E10 and have gone on sale since Monday 12th December. The proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to the local charity S.O.S. Kilkenny Ltd. Tickets available from Nowlan Park (between 9.30am and 2pm Mon-Fri, and from 10am on match-day) and from S.O.S. Callan Rd, Kilkenny between 9.30am and 5pm, Mon-Fri.
