U7's enjoy learning skills of the Game in Blitz with Lucan Sarsfields

At 11:30am on Saturday May 19th, 24 eager young footballers, left Russell Park and headed for their first inter-club blitz against Lucan Sarsfields. Most of the kids had been up since 6am that morning, getting their training gear ready and pestering their parents to check the weather forecast. It was a similar storey for the Lucan kids and parents with an equally enthuastic and excited group of kids waiting for us at the 12th Lock.

The sun came out as the 6 teams lined out against each other. Each team played 2 matches with great determination and some very skillful football was demonstrated by players from both teams. The winner undoubtedly was football itself and at the post-match reception there were smiles all-round as the players tucked into some much needed refreshments. The return leg will be on June 10th, when Brigid's will be delighted to host Lucan in Russell Park.
