Congrats to Martin Cahill, Sean Duignan, Domhnaill O'Mahony & Cian O'Mahony (in action above) who won the FBD All-Ireland Golf Title on Sunday. A massive achievement for the lads. Its the second time St Brigids has won the title.

THE Dubs have won an All-Ireland in 2008 -- on the golf course! It may have been the small ball game but that did not detract from the pleasure of victory earned by St Brigid's GAA Club of Blanchardstown in the FBD All-Ireland Golf Challenge.St Brigid's, captained by former Dublin footballer Martin Cahill, triumphed in this highly popular event for the second time in three years. They had romped through the Leinster qualifying and were unstoppable in the final at Faithlegg. The team of Cahill, ably backed by former Dublin hurler Sean Duignan and brothers Cian and Donal O'Mahony, led throughout. They ended the first day with a combined points tally of 82.

Nearest challengers were New York representatives, Roscommon GAA club on 79 with former Waterford hurling goalkeeper Brendan Landers's Lismore on 78.St Brigid's held their nerve and survived a strong challenge from Lismore to win the title they last won in 2006.Winning captain Cahill was delighted with the victory. "It is great to win this superb competition where over 160 GAA cubs in all four provinces and in the US all compete on a level playing field. At least one All-Ireland title will be coming back to Dublin in 2008"

The FBD All-Ireland Golf Challenge was established in 2000 and is open to all GAA clubs in Ireland with provincial winners playing off over one September weekend. This year also saw entrants from New York (Roscommon GAA Club) and, for the first time, Chicago (Wolfe Tones).
