Galvin & Hawkes take Dublin Handball Title while Timoney & Cahills Go Close - Thu, 5 Jul 2007

There was a great evening of Handball in Croke Park on Tuesday 26th June. Joseph Varley from Brian Boru Handball Club took the Under 12A Singles title in a nail biting Competition with Conor Timoney from St. Brigids putting up a great display taking one game off the eventual winner before going down gallantly in the third game.

Joseph Varley and his younger brother Daniel Varley were also successful in the doubles beating Niall McKenna from Portobello and Conor Timoney from St. Brigids 15-11; 14-15; 11-4. The Portobello/St. Brigids duo, who were beaten finalists in the Leinster Under 12A earlier this year, went very close to winning, serving match ball to Daniel Varley who produced a stunning shot from the back wall to the back of the alley to get a hand out.

Joseph Varley then served out to take the second game. The result in the third game did not reflect the close nature of the match which could have gone either way.

Congrats to Oisin Galvin who won the U-12B Dublin Singles and along with Colm Hawkes also won the Doubles. Oisin beat fellow St.Brigids player Ken Donnelly in the Singles final. Kieran Cahill was runner up in the U-13B Singles final and Siobhan Cahill was runner up in the U-13B Doubles final.
