Eoin Kennedy Advances to 40*20 All-Ireland Final After Thrilling Semi-Final Win - Wed, 11 Mar 2009

Well done to Eoin Kennedy who advanced to the 40 by 20 Singles Final after a thrilling Semi-Final win. Dublin ace, No. 3 seed, Eoin Kennedy (St. Brigid's, Blanchardstown), booked his place in the Men's Senior Singles final of this year's GAA/Dalkia All-Ireland (40X20) Championships, with a hard-fought win over rising young Wicklow star, Michael Gregan (Coolboy), over two games, in their semi-final at O' Loughlin Gaels, Kilkenny City.

In the first game, Gregan went into a 0-3 lead, before Kennedy drew level at 3-3. Thereafter, the Dubliner lead throughout, storming ahead into a commanding 20-14 lead and eventually closing out the game on a decisive scoreline of 21-14. In the second game, the score was level at 3-3 and 4-4, before Kennedy forged ahead to lead at 17-10. Gregan closed the gap to 17-15 and then with the score level at 18-18, it was anyone's game. However, the Dubliner remained unfazed and dug deep, pointing three times in succession to seal victory, on a narrow scoreline of 21-18. Kennedy will meet the winner No. 1 seed, Cavan star, Paul Brady (Kingscourt) in the Final.
