St Brigids Paddy Andrews stars as Dublin U16's easily defeat Longford - Wed, 20 Oct 2004 Dublin's under-16 footballers opened their Leinster U16 Football League account with a comfortable 2-13 to 2-5 victory over Longford on Saturday. From a Dublin perspective the fact that five of the six starting forwards as well as both midfielders all scored from play in the Dubs' eight point victory was encouraging. St Brigid's Paddy Andrews was a constant threat in the Dublin full-forward line. Right half-forward Cathal Morley finished as Dublin's top-scorer with 1-2 while sub Colm McCarthy grabbed Dublin's second goal. Dublin's strong half-back line of Kevin Nolan, Shane Byrne and Chris Guckian were impressive while Brendan Tracey at full-back also stood out while in attack there was a good spread of scorers with Patrick O'Connor finishing with 0-4 (0-3f). This Saturday Dublin play Meath in O'Toole Park (2.30) while the Baile Atha Cliath team also face Meath in the opening game (1.0).
