Minor Footballers Crowned Champs After Superb Display Against Na Fianna - Tue, 30 Oct 2007

A man of the match display from captain Naill Davey secured St Brigids their first Minor Football Championship since 1995. With Na Fianna clawing their way back into the game with less than 10 minutes remaining, Davey powered his way up from centre back to launch over the all important point to leave three points between the sides. Philip Carroll added two more pointed free to seal the title. Doyle & McCarrick played superbly in the full back line giving nothing away. Na Fianna tried 6 different men on the two lads without effect. Daire Plunkett was to the fore in the first half kicking two long range points & causing all sorts of problems to Na Fianna in the first half.

Leading 0-7 to 0-3 at half time after playing with the breeze at their backs, St Brigids knew they would be in for a stern test. Na Fianna cut their lead to three points within minutes of the restart before Carroll fired over a 45' into the wind, a beauty. Na Fianna coming back & eventually narrowed the margin to two points (0-8 to 0-6) before Davey capped a great display with a long range point.

Well done to all involved, its been a long year of planning but most definitely worth it.
