St Brigids 6-16 Naomh Mearnog 1-5

A dominant first half display playing against the gale laid the foundation for the Minor Footballers Championship Quarter-Final win over Naomh Mearnog. Five first half goals gave the lads a comfortable half time lead of 5-6 to 0-3. Goals from Philip Carroll(2), Daire Plunkett, Gavin McIntyre & Cathal Carr shocked Mearnog who were never able to get a foot hold in the game at all. Philip Carroll (above) put in an inspired performance scoring 3-7. Carroll's free taking was brilliant especially in the first half driving over several long ranges frees off the ground into the teeth of the wind.

Cian Mullins never let up in midfield with his constant running off the ball. Gavin McIntyre showed very well at centre forward winning alot of ball. It was good to see Daire Plunkett back in the fold after his injury problems. Cathal Doyle, Alan McCarrick & Sean Murray stood tall in defence especially under the high balls pumped in during the first half. Next up for the lads is Kilmacud Crokes in the Semi-Final in two weeks time.
