The long hard season eventually caught up with the Minor Footballers as they went down fighting to Kilmacud Crokes in the Division 1 League Final. Missing several key players due to injuries picked up in the Leinster Battle against Ashbourne, the lads found it hard to get going. Playing against a very strong gale in the first half, Paul Clerkin opened his account with a neatly taken point off his left but Kilmacud were soon into the game with Dublin Minor captain Barry O'Rourke adding the first of five points from placed balls. The game was a very dogged affair with both teams eager to contest.

Crokes led 0-3 to 0-1 after twenty minutes. Brigids looked the likely winners but Crokes under pressure to build up a big lead before half time piled forward leaving gaps in their defence. Philip Carroll found one of these gaps and fired over to narrow the Crokes lead to one point. Crokes soon found their feet and ended the half impressively adding 1-6 in an intense pressure filled ten minute period.

It was always going to be tough to get back into the game in the 2nd half especially trailing 1-9 to 0-2 at the break. The lads forged ahead in the opening period of the second half but several wides cost them dearly as O'Rourke found the net to extend the Crokes lead. Carroll found the net for Brigids with a fine penalty but several of the lads had to go off injured at this point & it blunted the Brigids challenge in the closing period of the game. Hard luck to the lads and thanks for a great year. The club congratulates you on such a fine year.
