Minor Footballers Qualify as Group Winners Despite Loss to Ballyboden St Enda's - Sun, 11 Oct 2009

A slugish first half performance from our Minor Footballers meant their 100% in the group stages of the Championship had been lost. Trailing 0-8 to 0-2 at the break, the lads regrouped at half time and produced a better showing in the 2nd half. The fact that they had already qualified from the group as winners may have affected the mindset of the players but they will need to improve dramatically if they are to beat St Vincents in the semi-final in Russell Pk in 2 weeks time.

St Vincents lost out to Na Fianna in their group decider while Ballyboden qualify as runners-up from our group edging out Slyvesters on score difference. Collie Carr (above) was the teams top scorer with 1-3. His goal was a cracking individual effort. Carr carrying the ball 30 yards before finishing to bottom right corner from the tighest of angles. Philip McEntee also scored a good point from distance.
