Erin's Isle and St Finbar's Visit Russell Park for U10 Hurling Blitz - Fri, 6 Oct 2006

Last Saturday Brigid's hosted Erin's Isle and St Finbar's in a hurling blitz. All the participating teams played three good competitive matches in very wet and mucky conditions. The boys were in their element!

In Brigids V Erin's Isle, Brigids played well and proved the stronger team. Conor Brown helped keep the visitors on their toes with some great pucks to clear the ball. Also displaying the skills learned last season and in the Summer Camps was Liam Campbell passing well to Fionn Murray, together with Sean Dunning and Stephen Daly setting up a number of scoring chances for Padraig Courtney and Anthony Healy.

Getting stuck in in midfield were Tadhg Brannigan and Luke Purthill displaying some fine catching and air hurling. Conor Feeney was his own man scoring a great point from midfield.  Midfield was well supported with good clearances from Sean O'Connell and Eoin Molloy who looked for chances to set scores for their team despite the difficult conditions.

In Brigids V Finbars Ciaran Meade and Ciaran Galvin played good defensive hurling in front of goals. David Frayne and Shane Hourigan showed good blocking skills. Kevin Keogh is coming into his own with some great puck outs.

Sean O'Malley got stuck in in midfield setting up a lovely scoring chance for Geoff Brooks going from strength to strength sunk the ball in the back of the net. Strong in defence James Griffin displayed good ground hurling skills and was ably supported by newcomers Sean McGuane and Daragh O'Neill.

All the participating teams played with great heart with everyone playing their part. The wet and muddy conditions meant there wasn't much field hurling, ground hurling prevailed with the Brigid's boys claiming victory in all their games. Well done, boys and keep practicing.
