U14 Hurlers 2nd Half Surge Just Not Enough Against Kilmacud Crokes - Tue, 4 Mar 2008

Kilmacud Crokes 4-8 St Brigids 3-6

The U14 Hurlers narrowly went down to Kilmacud Crokes in this Division 1 Hurling tussle. Crokes played with the advantage of a gale in the first half but were held a bay for the opening 10 minutes. Crokes soon were into gear when Oisin O'Rourke brother of star hurler Barry found the back of the net. This was to be the first of three goals for the classy hurler. Crokes were using the advantage of the gale to its full most by they socred three more goals to lead 4-4 to 1-1 at half time.

Brigids started the 2nd half a different team. Crokes were under severe pressure through-out the half but their physical strenght was to the fore when they blocked several goal bound efforts from the Brigids forwards. The lads weren't to be detered as the piled forward and soon had the Crokes led down to 4 points with minutes remaining. Crokes were wilting under the pressure as Brigids spurned several goal opportunities in the closing minutes. One thing for sure is that both of these sides will meet again later this season in the Feile and the game will hopefully be played in better conditions.

Well done to the lads & the management team of Paddy Winters, Mickey O'Sullivan & Gerry Greville.
