Minor Hurlers Open League Campaign in Style defeating Castleknock - Tue, 11 Mar 2008

St Brigids 6-13 Castleknock 1-2

After receiving a walkover from O'Tooles in their first league of the year, the Minor Hurlers were very eager to get going. It was great to see several players returning from the oval ball as well. They made a great impact especially Conor Woodgate at centre back.

Playing with the wind in the first half, Jamie Winters fresh from his Dublin Colleges win pointed from distance. Follow Colleges winner Daire Plunkett scored a fine goal, driving forward from midfield to clincally finish to the net leaving the keeper with no chance. Paul Clerkin added three points to push home their advantage in the opening quarter. David O'Callaghan replied for Castleknock but this didn't stop the red tide as they finished the half 3-9 to 0-1.

The lads got right back into their stride in the second half when converted goalkeeper to forward Conor Carton found the net. Conor Woodgate began to venture and was rewarded with a fine point from distance. Plunkett & Winters added further points. Well done to the lads on the win & this game is bound to bring them on a mile.
