Senior Camogie team top their group in the Opening Stages of the Champo - Mon, 4 Sep 2006

The senior camogie team showed some impressive camogie skills to beat St Marks in the final round of the group stages of the Senior B championship. Brigids got off to a flying start with Mary Galvin pointing two early free, and ten minutes into the game, Aoife Clifford slotted the ball into the back of the net. From that point onwards, they never looked back and went in at half time with a lead of 2-4 to 0-0.

The second half got off to a shaky start with Martina Sheridan carrying off some early saves. As the second half continued, strong defending by Collette Coady and Anne Kinwan diverted the danger and gave Brigids forwards ample amounts of the ball. Points by Trish Timoney, Tara Murphy and Emma Sweeny put the game out of Marks reach. Brigids came out deserved winners with a final score of 3-9 to 0-0.

They have successfully topped their group with a maximum 9 points:

  • St Brigids 2-4 Kilmacud 1-1
  • St Brigids 2-7 St Peregines 1-5
  • St Brigids 3-9 St Marks 0-0

The quarter final will be played on 9th September in Russell Park at 6pm versus Balinteer St Johns.

The intermediate camogie team narrowly lost out in their championship quarter final to St Judes. They showed great commitment and determination throughout the season. Well done to all players and management involved.
