U14 & U16 Girls Camogie Team Both Reach Champo Deciders - Wed, 8 Oct 2008

U16 Camogie beat Naomh Mearnóg by a score of 5-4 to 0-5 to reach B Championship Final. It was a great week-end for juvenile camogie as following on the heels of a brilliant semi-final win by the under 14s over Thomas Davis the under 16 girls had a great win over Naomh Mearnóg. Both sides had met in the league two weeks ago with Brigids edging out the narrowest of victories by 1:7 to 1:6.

The first half of this match was no different and the teams went into half time level with a scoreline of 1-2 to 0-5. Brigids were fortunate to be level at half time through an opportunistic goal by Ruth Dargan. However, the girls upped their performance in the second half with super goals by Emma Devitt (2), Áine Ó Murchú, and Emma Keyes. The defense brilliantly led by Ellen Hayden kept Naomh Mearnóg scoreless for the second and a great point by Emma Ó Lon rounded off a great team performance. Both the Under 16s and Under 14s will play their championship finals on Saturday October 18th.
