U8, U9 & U10 Camogie Teams Go From Strength to Strength this Year - Sun, 23 Nov 2008

This group has gone from strength to strength this year. Combined numbers are between 60 and 70 with 5 coaches regularly attending and a number of other parents helping out more informally. Many of the girls had already developed skills and confidence in previous year and went from strength to strength in 2008.

Our u10 group opened the season with an exciting match against Lucan Sarsfield and won impressively. This augured well for the season ahead and though a non compeditive league this year the u10 group, drawing on the help of the enthuasiastic u9 and u8 players to get two teams out 3 times a month, had a very strong season with league wins against Na Fianna, Lucan Sarsfield, St Vincents and Erins Isle. The most exciting matches were possibly the home and away matches with Good Counsel which both finished as a tie with super skills on display on both mornings. Friendly wins were also recorded against Finbarrs, Oliver Plunketts and Castleknock. This group of girls who compete as actively in the air as on the ground will enjoy the challenge of moving on to u11 league.

It was exciting to commence a new u9 league, which guaranteed those girls born in 1999 a game every month playing against other girls their own age. We would not have fielded our two teams without the huge support of those girls born in 2000 and 2001 who make up the u8 panel. This u9 league was a big success and skills developed progressively through the season. Wins and losses combined to make this a great experience in friendly competition for all the girls. It was wonderful to see this group compete in the air as well as using their ground hurling skills and we predict a strong u10 season for this group going forward.
