Under 16 Girls Camogie Season Report for 2008 - Fri, 19 Dec 2008

The U 16s played in Division 2 of this year's league and championship. It proved to be a very competitive division with all the matches being very close and all teams taking points of each other. In the last match of of the season Brigids defeated Naomh Mearnóg by a point to qualify for the league final. In the final the team had a brilliant victory over Kilmacud Crokes to clinch the league. The team also reached the championship final with a comprehensive win over Naomh Mearnóg in the semi-final to set up another meeting with Crokes.

Unfortunately, injuries to key players and fatigue caught up with the team and Crokes were deserving winners on the final. Despite the final loss it was a great season for the team. Thanks to the under 14s for playing up to the under 16s immediately following their own matches.

Without them we would not have been abable to field a team. Also a special thanks to Emma Devitt, Laura Winters, Sarah Dowling and Ella O'Doherty who having been with the club from nursery level upwards played their last season in the juvenile camogie ranks. They have developed into brilliant players and we will soon see them playing senior camogie with the club. Emma Devitt was player of the year.
