Newly Formed Ladies Junior Footballers improving rapidly with every Game - Mon, 24 Apr 2006

Ballymun Kickhams 4-8  St. Brigids 4-4

St. Brigids got off to a very good start in this game with Shona Barrett playing at full forward causing the Ballymun defence lots of problems. The first 15 minutes saw St. Brigids in the lead with 1-3 from Shona. Ballymun got on top for the rest of the first half and went in at the break 2 goals ahead, while St. Brigids were very unlucky when a shot from Shona hit the cross bar.

In the second half, the St. Brigids defence got on top from the start with outstanding performances from Ciara Lowry and Joanne Bruen.  The team got off to the perfect start when Michelle Dunne scored a goal within minutes. This was followed in the second half by further goals from Claire Macnamee
and Katie Murphy with Caroline O'Reilly completing the scoring with a well taken point.   Ballymun continued to cause problems and goalkeeper Fin Ni Dhomhnaill was very unlucky when she got a hand to their second half goal but couldn't keep it out of the net.  They also took some good long range
points which were the difference between the sides at the end.

The St. Brigids performance was a huge improvement from the cup game against Ballymun two weeks ago and the team played well as a unit showing excellent determination and team spirit to run a good Ballymun team very close.
