St. Brigids Girls Star for Dublin Minor Ladies in All Ireland Quarter Final - Thu, 3 Jul 2008
Congratulations to Shona Barrett (with leinster cup) who captained Dublin in the U-18 All Ireland quarter final on Saturday against Galway in Pairc Chiaran, Athlone. Noelle Healy and Enya Farrell also represented the club on this team. The girls ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 7-20 to 3-4. Well done girls and best of luck in the semi final. Dublin now face Connacht champions, Mayo, in the semi-final on the weekend of July 19th/20th. Dublin 7-20 Galway 3-4 Dublin beat Galway to claim a place in the last 4 of the All-Ireland minor A championship with a comprehensive victory over Galway in Pairc Ciaran, Athlone on Saturday June 28th. Dublin got a dream start when Fiona Hudson (0-1), Sinead Cullen (1-0) and Arlene Cushen (1-0) scored in the opening 7 minutes of the game. However, Galway rallied with scores from Nicola Burke and Sarah Murphy, but Dublin kept applying the pressure, and led at half-time 5-7 to 2-4. Dublin, aided by a strong breeze, again had an excellent start to the second half, with scores from Deborah Geraghty (1-1) and Niamh McEvoy (0-1) within 5 minutes, which paved the way to the final scoreline.
