Junior Ladies Footballers Progressing Well in Cup - Thu, 19 Apr 2007

St. Brigids 5-4 St. Annes 3-5

The St. Brigids junior team bounced back well from last weeks loss toCastleknock when they defeated St. Annes by 5 points at the PhoenixPark. The St. Annes girls started brighter and were leading at halftime by 2 points despite a goal from full forward Tara Carolan and apenalty from Leanne Greene.

The Brigids girls put in a tremendous effort in the second half toovercome the defecit.  Tara added another goal and 3 points and LeanneGreene was on fire, scoring 2-1 after the break. Amanda Wynne was veryunlucky to see her goal bound shot cleared off the line when it seemedshe had scored on her debut.

The last 10 minutes were a backs to thewall job with the defence scrambling well to keep St. Annes at bay,aided by a point blank save from Fin NiDhomhnaill.The girls now travel to St. Judes next Wednesday hoping to build on thevictory.
