Dublin 2-10 Cork 3-7

Well done to Aine Burke & Aimee Molloy(above) who were part of the Dublin Senior B Ladies team who drew with Cork. It was the first league game for the Dublin B's. Its great that the girls are using this a stepping stone to the Senior Panel.

Jackies fought back from 11 piont deficit to draw with 07 & 08 Senior B All Ireland Champs(Aisling Mc Ging Cup) Cork The Dubs were eagerly awaiting their chance to put to rights last years defeat at the hands of Cork last year in todays opener for the 09 season. The Rebelettes were up for it to and the first half was a humdinger which went all Corks way. Try what they might, the home side couldnt break through the wall of Red and the Jackies had to wait until T Molohan opened Dublins account with a point in the 27th minute of the first half. This was after Cork had punished the Dubs by 2 goals and 6 points. And that was how it finished when Wexfords James Flood blew on his whistle three times.

We dont know what was said in the Dublin huddle at the break, but that wise old adage was surely repeated. The Jackies took their places. The Cork girls were round the hedge on the next pitch and made an impressive entrance as if to say, "we are back". They may have thought that but the home side fired over 4 points from the boots of T Molohan [2], A Molloy and C Keaney to take control of the game. Cork decided to get into it and replied with a goal of their own. Cork were a little rattled with the reply from Dublin and were punished by having 2 converted frees awarded. Another Molohan Cocktail was lobbed over the bar and Sarah Denvir rocketed one in the netting. Cork replied with a point - only their second in this period and their last score of the game on the 26th minute. Could the Dubs catch up - 5 points behind? 4 minutes left on the clock! They did. Two more points and another rocket from Denvirs boot leveled the score. It might have been better but a third Denvir rocket caught the turf and spun into the upright to deny her a hat trick.
