5 St Brigids Girls Part of Dublin U16 Girls Footballers Champo Win over Laois - Wed, 1 Jul 2009

Dublin 6-9 Laois 1-10

Well done to Olivia Smartt, Aisling King, Michelle O' Reilly, Deirdre Murphy and Sinead Farrelly who were part of the Dublin U16 Ladies Leinster Champo win over Laois.

Dublin produced an excellent display to overcome Laois in the U16 Leinster Semi Final in Ballyboden, Dublin, on Saturday 27th June. Played in perfect conditions both teams displayed some super football but it was the home team that prevailed on a score line of 6-9 to 1-10. Dublin started extremely well with a goal and a point inside two minutes before Laois responded with two fine points of their own. Dublin scored three quick goals to extend their lead however Laois hit back with a penalty to reduce the deficit.

At half time Dublin led by 4-5 to 1-7. Dublin played with the breeze in the second half and added two quick points to consolidate their lead. The match was extremely even throughout and was it was Dublin?s ability to score goals that saw Dublin home on the day on a score line of 6-9 to 1-10. Dublin and Laois were well matched and both teams played some outstanding attacking football. Dublin will be pleased with the spread of scores that came from throughout the team.
