The scoreline suggests an comfortable victory but it was anything but that. The sides were level entering the final 2 minutes but up stepped captain fantastic Elaine Kelly to bag the decisive goal. It was a brilliant game of football with Garda starting off in fine fashion leading 0-3 to 0-0 inside the opening 5 minutes. Brigids responded brilliantly to lead 0-5 to 0-3 after 15 mins. They soon pulled ahead to lead 0-9 to 0-4 after 25 minutes and things were going to plan. Elaine Kelly scoring 4 points with sister Ashling scoring 0-2. Kate Murphy also chipped in with a point. Garda fought back to leave the 2 points between the sides at the break (0-9 to 0-7).

Garda opened the second half strongly and were soon level but they never were to go ahead. The 2nd half was a very low scoring affair. Leading 0-13 to 0-11 entering the final 5 minutes, the Championship looked like it was heading to Russell Pk but Garda soon had matter level entering the final 2 minutes. When the game looked like it was going away from the girls, up stepped player of the match Colleen Barrett to put them ahead and this was soon followed by a brilliant Elaine Kelly goal.

Well done to all involved. A great achievement for such a young side. The fruits of the brilliant work being done at underage level is really showing. We are all looking forward to the Leinster Championship.
