Great Junior B Doubles Final last Monday
Congratulations to Rob Farrelly and Cian O'Dalaigh on their victory over Jonny Westlake and James Smith in a very enjoyable Leinster Junior Doubles B at Na Fianna on Monday evening.

It was great credit to St Brigid's that of the four players involved, three were from Brigid's. The odd man out was Na Fianna's Cian O'Dalaigh who partnered Rob Farrelly.

The match attracted a good crowd who got great value as the first game was a humdinger.

Both Jonny and James were really hyped up fpr the match and they dominated the early exchanges and had Rob and Cian on the run. Spectacular back wall play, retrievals, effective overhands and superb killing had Jonny and James in full control as they forged into a 20-10 lead.

With only one further point needed, it seemed as if the first game was over but Rob and Cian had other ideas. Point by point they drew back closer and closer to 20 putting Jonny and James under increasing pressure as they saw their lead dissolve. An almost perfect kill by Jonny looked like it would regain them the serve at 19-20  but Rob at full stretch got in for a re-kill. Despite Jonny and and James best efforts they lost the first game 21-20.

Losing the first game was, unsurprisingly, a real blow to Jonny and James and it showed in the second game when nothing would go right for them and they rapidly fell behind with Rob and Cian in excellent form.

Congratulations are due to both partnerships for reaching the final after playing several rounds against players from the rest of Leinster.

We wish Rob and Cian every success in their upcoming All-Ireland semifinal against the Munster champions.
