Junior Ladies Footballers stun Naomh Barrog in Championship opener

Ladies Junior Football Championship - St Brigids 1-07 Naomh Barrog 0-04

St. Brigids Junior Ladies got their Championship campaign off to a dream start on Wednesday evening beating Naomh Barrog?s first team by 1-07 to 0-04 in Russell Park. Played in miserable rain and wind throughout, the girls showed their great battling qualities to pull off a stunning win.

The platform for victory was set in the opening period as the Brigids defence battle tenaciously to only concede three points and while Brigids forwards struggled with the conditions they were to reap the rewards in the second half.

Second half points from Alison Kelly, Jenny Weldon and Clodagh Rogers edged the girls in front for the first time in the game before a superb goal by Leanne Green from the most acute of angles sealed a deserved win for Phil Brennan?s side.

Well done to all the girls, who now face St Judes in their next Championship outing on Wednesday evening at 7 in Russell Park.
