Brigids U16 Hurlers Take Unbeaten Table Toppers, Kilmacud Crokes 2015-05-06 10:37:00

U16 Hurling League. Russell Park, 19:30.

Brigids                     2:16
Kilmacud Crokes A   1:02

After narrowly loosing to The Barrs in Cabra last Tuesday, Brigids U16 hurlers more than made amends last night
against unbeaten table toppers Crokes in Russell Park. Brigids had a few injuries - Darragh Wade, Tom Leen and Michael Fraine
with Aaron Dolly manning the goal as he was sick all week.
Brigids took advantage of the wind in the first half putting up a score of 1:7 to Crokes' 0:2 at half time. It was the defending of
Brigids with Jed Higgins, man of the match, Charlie Rudden, and Cathal Murphy in the full back line that provided the
platform for this win.
In the second half Brigids shored up the defence with David Hawkshaw dropping to centre half back. Sean Mansfield and Andrew Dunphy
made sure nothing went down the wings. Some great fielding by Brian Moran and James O'Connell made sure a good supply of
ball hit the Crokes back line. John Meagher moved from 14 to midfield to provide yet more ammunition for the Brigids forwards.

Next up for the U16s is Naomh Mearnog at home next Tuesday at 19:30.

Congrats to Matt Barr and the U14 Feile lads/selectors on winning the Dublin Feile at the weekend.
