Cheeky Charlie and the Brightest Star – A Very Special Story from One of Our Own ⭐️

There are some stories that are particularly special to share, and this is certainly one of them.

St Brigid’s Inter Camogie player Aoibhinn Moran has written a beautiful children’s book, Cheeky Charlie and the Brightest Star, inspired by the loss of her dad, Pádraig Moran, who sadly passed away when Aoibhinn was just 16.

For Aoibhinn and her family, St Brigid’s holds many special memories of Pádraig. He was a valued and unforgettable part of our club community – someone who was always there to lend a helping hand, whether as a coach on the sideline, a supportive parent or, more often than not, an umpire too!

Pádraig coached our Ladies U14 football team through Féile in 2010 and also coached his son Brian Moran’s football team. He gave so much of his time and energy to St Brigid’s, always wanting to help, encourage and be involved.

Those who knew Pádraig will remember his big smile, his kindness and his unwavering support for the club and its players.

It was Aoibhinn’s own experience of losing her dad, together with the love and memories that remained, that inspired Cheeky Charlie and the Brightest Star.

The book follows a little girl, Charlie, as she learns to cope with the loss of someone she loves and discovers that, although someone may no longer be physically beside us, their love, our memories of them and the little signs that remind us of them can remain.✨

For Aoibhinn, writing the book was a way of keeping her dad’s memory alive while creating something positive that might help another child experiencing loss.

As Aoibhinn says:

“This book is a little piece of Pádraig, and a little piece of St Brigid’s GAA. I hope it can help another child understand that even when someone is no longer beside us, their love and the memories we shared can continue to shine brightly.” 💙⭐️
