Forging a New Legacy – St Brigid’s GAA Development Programme 2024–2026
St Brigid’s GAA Club has always been more than a place to play games – it is a home, a community, and a legacy built since 1932. Today, we stand at another milestone in our journey. With almost 3,000 members, over 400 coaches, and 100+ juvenile teams, we are proud to be one of Dublin’s most vibrant GAA clubs.
But with growth comes responsibility. Our players – from nursery through to adult – deserve the very best facilities, and our community deserves a club environment we can all be proud of.
Following member feedback, the Forging a New Legacy Development Programme (2024–2026) sets out our priorities for the years ahead:
Our Key Projects
-
Resurfacing the All-Weather Pitch & Replacing Floodlights
-
A modern synthetic surface and upgraded lighting to ensure safe, year-round use.
-
-
Upgrading Playing & Training Facilities
-
New gym extension, ball wall, mini astro, dugouts, and floodlighting for juvenile pitches.
-
-
Refurbishing the Clubhouse Social Spaces
-
Renovated meeting rooms, upgraded toilets, insulation, and improved bar/social facilities.
-
These projects are scheduled between 2025–2026, ensuring St Brigid’s continues to thrive for the next generation.

22nd September 2025
Dear Member,
I hope this letter finds you well. It’s now four months since we launched the Forging a New Legacy project. I am pleased to update you on the progress made over the summer. In that time, we have:-
- Refurbished the Main Astro Pitch – which began in July and is now almost complete, providing all our players with a first-class surface for training and playing matches.
- Secured planning permission for our new Mini-Astro & Ball Wall behind the Main Astro Pitch.
- Submitted a planning application for Lighting on the Juvenile Pitch – which will transform winter training and offer extended playing hours on darker evenings.
- Drawn up plans and costings for the refurbishment of the handball courts, gym and dressing rooms.
We have worked with our project management team to deliver these projects together to save costs, reduce disruption and to get facilities open sooner. This progress has been made possible by the support and generosity of members of our club and community.
When completed, these upgrades will transform St. Brigid’s into a true community hub with a range of excellent playing facilities. We will truly be a centre for wellbeing and connection. From ExWell and Men’s Shed, to Mothers & Others, All Stars for children with additional needs and social outreach for seniors and new Irish communities, these spaces will serve every member of our club and our community.
In order to fund these works we:-
- Invested €590,000 in Phase I refurbishments without incurring loans or levies.
- Raised almost €1.2 million for Phase II from committed members of the club, grants and sales.
- Must secure a further €820,000 in donations to complete items 2,3 & 4 above
This is where your support — if you haven’t yet contributed — can make an immediate difference. Rather than introducing a capital levy to our membership fees, we are respectfully asking all members of our club to consider making:-
- A once-off donation that’s meaningful for your family or
- A monthly pledge over the next year or two at a level that is right for you
Remember: donations of €250 or more qualify for a 66% tax rebate back to the club — turning your gift into something even bigger. Please see attached a pledge form which can be filled out and returned to the club along with your payment or click on https://www.stbrigidsgaa.com/
Please consider joining your fellow club members in Forging a New Legacy for St. Brigid’s. By making a gift today, you can help us keep momentum strong. Every donation — large or small — will bring us closer to delivering these much-needed facilities for the next generation.
Please complete one and return before the end of September when we will celebrate the opening of our new playing facility. We look forward to hearing from you and to bringing these ambitious plans to a successful conclusion.
Mile Buiochas,
Denis Courtney
