Cian Walsh Memorial Hurling Blitz 2024

On Sunday 29 September next the club host the Cian Walsh Memorial Blitz.

This is the second year of this very special blitz, held in loving memory of Cian Walsh, a wonderful little boy whose short life left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Cian’s love for hurling and fun was unmatched, and we hope that Sunday next brings both of these joys to all as we celebrate and remember him.

We will be welcoming visiting U12 teams from Ballincollig GAA, Bruff GAA, Clontarf GAA, JK Brackens GAA, Kilmacud Crokes and along with their mentor and families to Russell Park for the hurling blitz. A parade commencing at 10:30am will be followed by the throw in of the first games at 10:45am.

Cian had so many happy days here in St. Brigid’s. Living so close to the club, it was almost a second home for him. Cian started coming to Nursery at the big age of 4 with his pals from school, and along the way he made many more new friends, both young and old. Cian’s group was the 2013 boys, where he had so much fun and he left a lasting impression on the 2013 mentors! Cian particularly enjoyed the mini leagues tournament each year, and also loved his unofficial ‘team mascot’ role for his big brother Daire’s 2011 team. Cian’s infectious spirit and love for life will continue to be present in the St. Brigid’s GAA community by running this hurling blitz every year in his memory.

There will be a Krispy Kreme Doughnut stand with all sales proceeds being donated to Heart Children charity.

A special word of gratitude from Declan, Martina and family to the 2012 boys group along with a large number of club members who have been working tirelessly in organising the blitz.
