Congratulations to all our Senior Football team and Management who bet Round Towers Lusk on Saturday evening in Garristown to secure a place in their championship final, and a return to Senior 1 football.

The first half was a nip and tuck affair with Towers having a promising start to the first quarter. The Brigid’s lads showed composure stemming the flow of the Towers attack, and punishing on the counter with points from Conor Watt, Scott Daly and Mark Donnelly keeping the scoreboard ticking over. A 2 point effort from Andrew Waldron helped ensure Brigids went in at the break 1 point up on a scoreline of 0-9 to 0-8.

The start of the second half was all action as Brigid’s hit the ground running with a goal, courtesy of a clinical finish from veteran Phily Ryan to put 3 points between the sides.

Towers responded with their own scores but a 2 pointer from Phily Ryan, a 45 from keeper Gavin Sheridan kept the margin at 2 as they entered the final quarter.

The final minutes were tight with Brigid’s holding a 3 point lead, but a Towers point matched by a second 45 from Sheridan in injury time sealed Brigid’s win by 3 points.

There was jubilant scenes at the final whistle as Brigid’s players, management, family and friends celebrated - a place in the championship final awaits alongside the return to Senior 1 football for 2027.

Our Senior Footballers will face St. Vincent’s in two weeks time - save the date as we build up to the final and put the call to all teams and members to make the trip to The Naul and be the difference in support for the team and mangement 💪🏼
