Our Junior 6 Footballers finished their league campaign in style today with a 2-11 to 1-8 victory over St. Maurs on home ground.
With promotion already secured before today’s clash, topping the league was the aim for today with Ranelagh Gaels still biting the heels of Brigid’s top spot in AFL 6.
In a hard fought league, Brigid’s lost their first game to Raheny but went on to have a 14 game unbeaten run, with 13 victories and 1 draw.
The lads had crucial wins across their 15 league games - most notably over Ranelagh Gaels, Civil Service, Beann Eadair and St. Margaret’s.
But the ultimate challenge between Brigid’s and that top spot was St. Maur’s where nothing but a win was needed to secure the silverware.
Despite Maurs passages of promising play, Brigid’s were the more dominant side throughout, especially with a notable contribution of 2-6 from Mick Courtney.
The full time whistle saw jubilant scenes on the Russell Park sidelines as Brigid’s celebrated their 6 point win, ensuring their position on the summit of AFL 6.
Congratulations to all players and management not only on today’s success but all through the league with worthy mentions to Sean Murray, Colin Healy, Conor McCabe, Ciaran Slane & Joe Gleeson for their outstanding contributions across every game.
