Dermot Earley Foróige Youth Leadership Initiative (DEYLI) for 2026/27

We are excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2026/27 Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Foróige Initiative starting in September 2026. Thank you to our Award Facilitators: Vivienne Meade, Sheila Ralston, Aisling Mulligan, Ciara Geraghty, Liz Devlin, Helen Carberry & Eunan McDonald.

This fantastic initiative is aimed at 15-18 year olds. Participants must be in Transition Year & a member of St.Brigid’s GAA club. For more information, see the following DEYLI Leaflet and DEYLI

The 2026/27 programme has 3 modules and will take place in St. Brigid's GAA, Russell Park Clubhouse, Tuesday evenings. (Time TBC once we have 2026-2027 training schedule). Successfully completing Module 1&2 will gain certification from Foróige . Students will then have the option to complete Module 3. Module 3 is mostly self-directed learning. Participants successfully completing all 3 modules, have the opportunity to graduate with a Level 6 Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership & Community Action which awarded by NUI/ Ollscoil na Gaillimhe/ Galway University in their Autumn graduations in 2027.
The NUI qualification, Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action, is a separate award with its own external criteria, including an age requirement. Please note that TY participants must be aged 16 or over by the 1st of January 2027 (Younger participants can complete the award this year and graduate in 2028). The optional Ollscoil na Gaillimhe /University of Galway certificate costs approximately €300. Participating students will be facilitated to fundraise towards this fee in consultation with the club. Parental supervision will be required for any fundraising event carried out by their son/daughter.

There are a limited number of places and participants will be selected randomly. To apply, please complete the application form with your TY 26-27 son/daughter by midnight Sunday 24th May. Places will be confirmed by email by the end of May.
